Welcome to the N7 Resource Recovery Project
The N7 Resource Recovery Project (N7RRP) is a private sector development which will use a proven and patented technology to recover thousands of tons of recyclable and reusable material each year from residual waste that is currently landfilled or sent abroad. It will generate renewable energy for the region, decreasing Ireland’s dependency on imported fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and providing enough electricity to power 43,000 households. The N7RRP will also provide a foundation for other industries which refine and make products from recycled and recovered materials.
The N7RRP will be privately financed, and will not require flow control, “put-or-pay” contracts with local authorities, higher landfill taxes, or any other form of public subsidy or guarantee.

"the prevention, recycling and recovery of waste should be encouraged as should the use of recovered materials and energy so as to safeguard natural resources and obviate wasteful use of land." - EU Landfill Directive
Quarry on N7 Naas Road will become the site of the N7 Resource Recovery Project
The N7RRP Site is located on the N7 Naas Road in South Dublin, 10 km west of the M-50. The site has direct, dedicated access from the N7 Naas Road and the project will result in a net reduction in traffic to and from the site relative to current levels.

All of the N7RRP operations' buildings will be built below ground level in a former quarry, thereby reusing a depleted site and eliminating impacts upon the landscape. The project operations will not be visible from most locations outside the site.
The N7RRP will receive and process all waste indoors. The project will provide all its water needs from on-site wells and an on-site rainwater collection pond. All water will be recycled internally — no wastewater will leave the site.
The Government of Ireland has made strong commitments to:
- Implement Sustainable Development Practices
- Reduce Greenhouse Gases
- Embrace the Waste Management Hierarchy
- Divert Waste from Landfills
- Recover Materials for Reuse
- Generate Renewable Energy
- Reduce Traffic Congestion
The N7RRP has been designed with these commitments in mind and will significantly contribute to their successful implementation.

The N7RRP is much more than "waste-to-energy" and far advanced from "incineration" and all the negative implications associated with the term. This is a "Resource Recovery" project designed from the ground up to recover materials and energy from waste as efficiently and completely as possible.
